Scrapbooking Night

We haven’t been scrapbooking since our move to Missouri.  The time was an issue.  Also with a lot of things still packed, we couldn’t find what we needed to add to albums.

This last week we found a box from Lu’s mom, Lucy.  It had some pictures she was planning to scrapbook,  A few of those pictures were from our wedding so many years ago.  We checked them against what we already had in the album and found a bunch we wanted to add.

We scheduled a night to add them to the Wedding Album.  We invited some people in our church to come scrapbook with us.  No one came that night.  Whether it was that we are too far away from them or the new snow that fell that day, we don’t know.  We will schedule another one for February, maybe on a Friday night instead of a Saturday night.  It is always fun to scrapbook with others.

Here is the cover of our wedding album,

In some cases we could just redo the page and add the pictures.  In other cases we had to add new pages to the book.  Here is one of the pages we added.

We love the way that you can add pages to a Creative Memories Album.  Just make the page and rethread the binding.  We put page protectors on the new pages.  It is so nice to get something taken care of.

It was good as well to revisit the past of happy times together.  Some things like cutting the cake we don’t remember very well.  We have pictures in the scrapbook, so it must have happened.

Gnomes

What do you do with the roll that your ribbon came on once it is empty? Well if you are us you make something! These rolls were the perfect size for a couple of gnomes.

They came together pretty quickly and easily with just a few extra supplies from our favorite discount store.

Thanks for coming to our blog!

A Little More Christmas

We found this cute tassel tree kit t a local store and thought we could do that! We added some paper to the background and a star to make it a little more festive! Then we decided to make our own! We are going to redesign it smaller for next year so that we can make ornaments! These two we gave as gifts this year! Hope you like them!

We had so much fun making gnome ornaments that we decided to do them for our friends and neighbors! Turquoise and purple were the chosen colors this year!

We made some little wood ornaments as well!

December Bulletin Board

Well it is the last bulletin board of this year!

We found these nice signs last year after Christmas. We weren’t exactly sure what we were going to do with them. They were going to be on a white background and were white so, we painted a small border around them. We found some flowers at our local discount store. And with just a little messing we had two ready to go up!

The lettering needed to be special too! We love how the gold is carried throughout!

And now it is up on the bulletin board

Thanks for coming to the website and supporting us all year!

Not finding what you need?

Sometimes you have an idea and just can’t find that one element to complete it.  That was the case with this fun gnome garland we wanted to make. We could find wooden red beads and white beads but no green beads. And we found that if you are trying to buy a large quantity locally they can be very expensive.

So here is our tip, buy wooden bead garland and take it apart! The cost is so much better and you get a lot more beads! That being said, we found black, grey, white and red but nothing this year had green.  So we bought the natural wood garland and painted it! This was the first time we have done this so it took a little experimenting to get the paint/water mixture the right consistency, but we did it!

We just used a sandwich bag to mix the paint and water in, rolled a couple of beads in it at a time, took them out on a toothpick and set them to dry on portion cups! You need to check them so they don’t get a glob of paint on the bottom and rotate them on the toothpick so they don’t stick to it.

We think the garland turned out darling!

And yes you can buy this or order your own custom colors! $25.00+tax

Christmas Time!

Steve went to Utah for his dad’s 100th birthday this last weekend. We have a friend in Utah that we stay with when we go to visit. We always do something crafty for each other for Christmas. So we thought if we could get it done Steve could take it with him. Also it was her daughter’s birthday and we wanted to do something for that as well.

She told me that they have decided for the last few years that their Christmas colors are red and turquois. Have you looked for things that are those colors and Christmas? They are not to be found. So of course our solution was to make them something. So we made these cute Santa ornaments. The pictures look a lot more blue but it is very turquois in person!

Then we decided to make some ornaments similar to some that we saw at our local store. Finding the turquois vinyl was a little tough but we love how they turned out!

For the birthday girl (she turned 15) black is her color of choice and she likes gnomes! So we made her this fun “garland” that she could leave up all year! We love the colors too! We also made her a little Joy plaque to help her stay positive!

We have ornament sets and gnome garland ready for purchase, if you are interested! We can do custom colors! Here is a picture of a red and green garland!
