August Bulletin Board

For the August church bulletin board we decide to do watermelons. We cut them out on the Cricut, so it was super easy and fast!

To make the “seeds” look shiny we used a product called Glossy Accents. It doesn’t take very much but I think it makes a big difference! Thanks to Kaye Vos for turning me onto it!

Flower Pot Finished

Sorry there wasn’t a blog last week.

But this week we have filled the flower pot!!! These flowers from cotton swabs have been very popular. We wanted to make ours just a little different! We think this is a fun thing to make with your kids! It is not expensive and can be as complicated or simple as you want!

Thanks for sticking with us!!!

This week we are just brainstorming some ideas to do with terracotta pots. As you know, I love black and yellow! So here is an idea for painting one!

You’ll have to stop by next week to see what we filled it with!

Buffalo Decal

A friend of Steve’s wanted a decal for his jeep. He wanted a buffalo with a date in it. The buffalo represented American freedom.  And 1791 was for the Bill of Rights.  The tricky part was getting the date to read correctly from both sides. We figured it out!

Can’t Wait to Make This a Cricut Project

So what do you do when you can’t sleep? I mistakenly got on Pinterest!

I found this fun card and decided that 4 in the morning was a great time to try it!! It looked easy enough. Then as I started to look at the directions the measurements were all in cm!! Good thing I had a ruler that had cm and inches! It took a little trial and error but I think for a first try it turned out pretty cute! The only thing is that I want it to stand up better than it does and I don’t want to have to cut or score it by hand.  So this will getting put into Cricut very soon!!! If you are interested in how to get something like this to cut and score on the Cricut, I can teach you!

Thanks for coming to my blog!

July Bulletin Board

Sorry there wasn’t a blog last week, we had a health problem.

This next bulletin board came up on us very quickly!  Lucky for us it was a month filled with possibilities!

We just went to the dollar store and bought a sign and some garland. Took the sign apart and glued garland around them! Then just cut letters out to match and we were done!

Church Bulletin Board

Since the pandemic we haven’t had in person church. Before the pandemic I was asked to keep the bulletin board decorated! I was happy to as long as I didn’t have to keep the events updated! Now we are back to in person church and they asked me to do that again. Since June was almost over I needed something quick and easy. I picked up some fun trays at my favorite store and added some vinyl and there you go! Fast and easy! The other person in charge of the events went with me to hang it up and said she liked it! So expect to see a few more of these in the coming months! I’m already working on July!

Thanks for watching my blog!

Father’s Day Cards

Just a quick blog this week.

We just did a couple of Father’s Day cards for our boys. They weren’t really fancy and were easily done with the offset feature in Cricut Design Space. After we had them the correct size to be half the size of a card we duplicated, flipped and welded together. Lining them up correctly was done by using the position settings and then just eyeballing it. Once they were welded we then added a score line to get the fold. Then all that was left was to cut out the original design and glue it on.

Printed Canvas

This is a long blog! It has a lot more detail about what we used and how we put it together!

For a couple of weeks we have been working on this project. We already had everything but we will try and tell you where we got things.

Printed canvases are available at Hobby Lobby. This one was a gift to me from a friend. We were all going to get together and work them up in our own way. Then the pandemic hit. So I asked her if I could do mine up for a graduation gift for someone special!

This is as we are trying to come up with an idea of what to do. We knew we wanted to make it pop off the canvas, (because I can’t really paint) but weren’t sure if it would work.

The first thing we did was use wax paper and trace the different parts of the skull. Then we cut those pieces out of the different papers.

The hardest thing to figure out was the horns. We thought we might be able to find some plastic toy ones but had no luck.  Then we thought maybe toilet paper rolls but that didn’t work either.  So then we decided to try and cut them out of a pool noodle.

Once those were painted they were the first things to attach. We were a little worried about not covering up all the printing but decided that it was ok and not noticeable. We used Weld Bond to attach them.

The only thing we did buy were the feathers because we wanted brown ones.  But the rest of the things were all things we had in stock. The leaves were from a flower stem we had taken apart and used for something else, the white flowers were from Dollar Tree and we try to always have some in stock to use for filler. The burlap flowers and the large brown flowers were from too long ago to remember!

We wanted the large brown flower to have something in the center. We thought of seed beads and we happened to have lots of those in stock! So we mixed them with some glue and set the flower in a portion cup to start to dry and set.  We cut the portion cup down so that the flower could spread a little more are the top. We let that set overnight and the next morning took it out and flattened it out some. It was not dry all the way at that point.

Once all the components were ready we just started to assemble. We used hot glue to attach everything else. The paper pieces do have pop up dos on the back for their  height. Once the other things were down we needed the main flower to be a little higher so we added a small piece of floral foam for it to set on.

Then it was time for the words and dots. We used a frosted glass writer that made it more dimensional, It was a dark purple and we liked it, but the next morning it had dried to a black color. We think that it looks fine too!

So there you have the finished product! We hope the recipient likes it!

P.S. We just got back from delivering it and she said she loved it!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading this very long blog!!!

So to update it a little we just sanded the edges and added a few flowers!

I think it will make a great addition to someone’s  family picture wall!
