A Birthday Gift

Hello!

My daughter-in-law’s birthday was in May.  With us living so far apart, it is hard sometimes to know what to get her. This year Alex said they had seen some of those decorative blocks and she liked them. So, I decided to try to make her some.  They had only seen the ones with one side done.  But I thought I would make her some multi-sided so that she could have them out all year-round. I didn’t make them just holiday-themed; there are a couple of more generic sides. The blocks are small (not quite 2″) and that was a challenge to find things that fit. I enjoyed the way they turned out!  I hope she likes them as well!

She is a big Disney fan so I pick up anything Disney when I find it cheap! Her husband told me that Ariel is the princess she was into at the moment. I’ve had this sticker for a while and I used it to make this card.  I love how the colors came together and I love the green paper!

Thanks for checking in!

Cards!!!

These last couple of weeks have really been busy! This week the coordinator at Joann’s wanted me to go in and “play” with her on the Cricut Monday. That was kind of fun!

Steve has put a couple of card bases in the Cricut and we are working the kinks out of that.

It has finally turned fall here, it seems like the trees all lost their leaves in one day!

And Steve put one of my holiday block sets up on his board at work and it sold right away!!

I had my first “class” “get together” at Joann’s on Friday and that was challenging but fun! One lady had the Explore but had never used it in 2 years. The other lady had an Expressions that wouldn’t stop blinking at us. And neither of them had any of the cords, power, or computer! I’m so glad that I knew enough about both machines to help them! Both ladies went home excited and signed up to do a fabric applique class on the 4th! {Monday when I went in to “play,” the coordinator told me I have 2 other ladies signed up for it as well!!}

So this week I just have a different step card to show you. Last week the Christmas one had 5 steps, this one has 4. And this one has a back to it! They are both things Steve has put into my Cricut so I don’t have to score or cut the steps or the decorative paper on the inside! What a man!!!

This is a step card. This week I asked Steve to help me program in a card template that I got off the internet. I thought “I love this card but drawing the template then cutting and scoring took so long!” So I thought if Steve could program it into my new Cricut we could cut and score it anytime we wanted to make one!! It took him a little bit to figure it out, but he did it!!! It is such a cool thing that now I can just send a paper through my Cricut and have the card base done! Now I am asking him to put the accent paper cuts in! They are the same lines so maybe it won’t be so bad! lol lol lol So here is my first attempt, hope you like it!!

New Cricut

Sorry, it has taken me this long to get to this. But I got the new Cricut machine and then I got a job teaching it at the local JoAnn store!! Now they need examples of everything it can do. That seems a little overwhelming but here we go!! Some at a time, I only have one new thing done today. It is this 3D unicorn head! I made it smaller than this first and couldn’t get it to go together. This one still doesn’t have all the pieces on the horn but I think it is ok. I will post more as I get things done!! Thanks for being patient with me!!

Well, this is the one project that actually came out ok and I am going to send it to the ladies for Super Saturday!! I’m a little nervous about it because I’m not sure about what they like in Missouri!! I hope they like it!

The blocks are the same just the other side!!

A Little Christmas

This week I have been trying some projects for my church group and they haven’t worked as well as I would like. But here are a couple of ideas for some easy, inexpensive ornaments! This last one is supposed to be a pine cone. I’m not sure it looks enough like one. I think maybe the paper is too patterned, or maybe I still don’t have the shape correct.  Anyway, I am trying one more thing this week and then will decide if and what to teach!!!

Have a great week and do something creative!!!

This Week’s Fun

0720161329[1]0720161331a[1]

I found some burlap I really like and have decided to make a 3 wreath set out of it but it is more time consuming than I expected. But I have posted a picture of it in progress! Also this week we found a pinwheel maker at a really good price and I can tell that it is going to be lots of fun to use for making party decor! I still am not adjusting to the heat and humidity here in Missouri yet so it seems like I just get started on something and have to go find a towel to wipe down!!! I know we will figure it out eventually!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read my blog!!!

Hello Again Finally

Wow! It has really been a year since I have been on this blog and I apologize to all of you! We have had some excitement in our lives! Steve lost his job in Utah and we lost 2 very close people to us. Then Steve got a job in Missouri!! He has been here since October 2015. I stayed in Utah and sold our home and have now joined him here in Missouri! I think I am settled enough to get back to this blog consistently, at least that’s my goal!!!

So here is a quick and easy way to make flowers using your cutting system and your corner rounder!!

Cut 3 different size circles with your cutting system, I like to use different papers. Also, it is a little easier with something thinner than heavy cardstock but I did use cardstock on some of mine. Fold your circle in half and round the ends off with the corner rounder. Notice how far the circle goes into the rounder because this affects the shape of your petals. Now unfold the circle and fold it in the opposite direction and punch again. Do this 2 more times folding to what you might call the diagonals. Repeat this for all 3 circles. Now layer the circles together from largest to smallest and you have a cute flower that matches any project!!!
