Christmas Gifts

We had so much fun making gnome ornaments that we decided to do them for our friends and neighbors! Turquoise and purple were the chosen colors this year!

We made some little wood ornaments as well!

If you were one of our friends or neighbors that received them, we hope you enjoy them!

Thanks for stopping by our blog!

Not finding what you need?

Sometimes you have an idea and just can’t find that one element to complete it.  That was the case with this fun gnome garland we wanted to make. We could find wooden red beads and white beads but no green beads. And we found that if you are trying to buy a large quantity locally they can be very expensive.

So here is our tip, buy wooden bead garland and take it apart! The cost is so much better and you get a lot more beads! That being said, we found black, grey, white and red but nothing this year had green.  So we bought the natural wood garland and painted it! This was the first time we have done this so it took a little experimenting to get the paint/water mixture the right consistency, but we did it!

We just used a sandwich bag to mix the paint and water in, rolled a couple of beads in it at a time, took them out on a toothpick and set them to dry on portion cups! You need to check them so they don’t get a glob of paint on the bottom and rotate them on the toothpick so they don’t stick to it.

Christmas Time!

Steve went to Utah for his dad’s 100th birthday this last weekend. We have a friend in Utah that we stay with when we go to visit. We always do something crafty for each other for Christmas. So we thought if we could get it done Steve could take it with him. Also it was her daughter’s birthday and we wanted to do something for that as well.

She told me that they have decided for the last few years that their Christmas colors are red and turquois. Have you looked for things that are those colors and Christmas? They are not to be found. So of course our solution was to make them something. So we made these cute Santa ornaments. The pictures look a lot more blue but it is very turquois in person!

Then we decided to make some ornaments similar to some that we saw at our local store. Finding the turquois vinyl was a little tough but we love how they turned out!

For the birthday girl (she turned 15) black is her color of choice and she likes gnomes! So we made her this fun “garland” that she could leave up all year! We love the colors too! We also made her a little Joy plaque to help her stay positive!
