Fabric With the Cricut

Ok MJ asked if we could cut that orange card from fabric, I haven’t tried that but I did do a shirt for my granddaughter. 10191621171 Here it is. You have to use a stabilizer on the back like heat and bond, but then you can see (hopefully) that it cuts pretty fine detail. The detail in the feet and the thin space between the ear and body!  Thanks for the question MJ!!!!

Cricut Fun

1122161241111221612421I’m playing with my Cricut some more this week because we are having a lot of people ask me to show them how to do different things!! I’ very grateful that I can help and have fun at the same time!! This week I learned how to take a lace design and incorporate it into a card! I think it turned out really pretty! I also learned how to add the score lines! So the card can fold in the right place for the lace. I’m excited to play with other shapes to form this gate card!!!!

Santa Books

As most of you know, while in Utah I did a Santa book with some of your children. Well, this weekend I went to a class and learned how to do this cool waterfall book! And I thought, could this be modified a little and made into Santa books? And could we figure out how to have Santa do what we did in Utah?

Well, yes they can be Santa books and yes we figured it out!! I’m so glad because this means that I can do one for my new grandbaby, Hope!! If you are interested in doing this with your child (children), please contact me for all the details!!! Here are some of them I have ready to go!!!

Christmas Teddy Bears

This week has been kind of busy again! I guess that I ‘m supposed to start doing more business here sooner than we get into the house because it seems like every couple of days there is someone wanting to do a project with me. It is great but then I find myself designing projects and not getting anything done for the blog. So I guess that the blog is just going to get the start of my projects this week! Maybe more weeks too!!!! lol

So I am trying to make a class with the Cricut group. They want to make cards. There are lots of fun things to do there but they are not both on an Explore so we are limited a little. So I decided that we could make teddy bear cards. This morning has been all about getting the teddy bears all the same size and then cutting them and putting them together. I am going to give them enough materials to do 3 of each bear!! That should make a dent in their card-giving!!! So here is a picture of the bears and I will post pictures of the cards when they are done!!!!

I had issues getting a picture in and so now the cards are done so we will just post that picture now!!!

Christmas Stockings

steve-stockingSorry, the blog is late again this week. My days are all running together! And it seems like things have been really busy again, but I can’t figure with what!! lol

Anyway, I am working on new Christmas stockings for Steve and me. With the kids on their own, it is time for a change.  Here is a preview picture and I will post the finished project once I have them done. I used the Cricut to cut the letters out of the felt and that was a learning experience. Felt is a hard thing to get cut cleanly and all the way through. But felt is cheap and our names are small!!! I also had to learn how to get things to cut where I wanted them on the mat with the Cricut. All good things to know as I continue to teach others!

Cards!!!

These last couple of weeks have really been busy! This week the coordinator at Joann’s wanted me to go in and “play” with her on the Cricut Monday. That was kind of fun!

Steve has put a couple of card bases in the Cricut and we are working the kinks out of that.

It has finally turned fall here, it seems like the trees all lost their leaves in one day!

And Steve put one of my holiday block sets up on his board at work and it sold right away!!

I had my first “class” “get together” at Joann’s on Friday and that was challenging but fun! One lady had the Explore but had never used it in 2 years. The other lady had an Expressions that wouldn’t stop blinking at us. And neither of them had any of the cords, power, or computer! I’m so glad that I knew enough about both machines to help them! Both ladies went home excited and signed up to do a fabric applique class on the 4th! {Monday when I went in to “play,” the coordinator told me I have 2 other ladies signed up for it as well!!}

So this week I just have a different step card to show you. Last week the Christmas one had 5 steps, this one has 4. And this one has a back to it! They are both things Steve has put into my Cricut so I don’t have to score or cut the steps or the decorative paper on the inside! What a man!!!

New Card!!

Standing up

This is a step card. This week I asked Steve to help me program in a card template that I got off the internet. I thought “I love this card but drawing the template then cutting and scoring took so long!” So I thought if Steve could program it into my new Cricut we could cut and score it anytime we wanted to make one!! It took him a little bit to figure it out, but he did it!!! It is such a cool thing that now I can just send a paper through my Cricut and have the card base done! Now I am asking him to put the accent paper cuts in! They are the same lines so maybe it won’t be so bad! lol lol lol So here is my first attempt, hope you like it!!

New Cricut

Sorry, it has taken me this long to get to this. But I got the new Cricut machine and then I got a job teaching it at the local JoAnn store!! Now they need examples of everything it can do. That seems a little overwhelming but here we go!! Some at a time, I only have one new thing done today. It is this 3D unicorn head! I made it smaller than this first and couldn’t get it to go together. This one still doesn’t have all the pieces on the horn but I think it is ok. I will post more as I get things done!! Thanks for being patient with me!!

Hi!!! Sanding and Craft Fair

This week is really busy for me! I am getting ready for Super Saturday! I started sanding all those boards by hand and decided that it was worth the investment in a sander! So we bought a sander and are trying to learn how to use it!! No fun pictures, sorry!! It is definitely a lot faster but, we are not very good or consistent yet!

We went to a craft fair this weekend! It was fun and interesting. The fall is really a craft fair time here and every little town seems to have their own. There is always more than one to go to!! It was interesting to me to see the prices for things here and to see what people were buying. Good market research! But even the things we liked, the thought in our head was…then we have to store it and move it!! So we didn’t end up coming home with anything!!! I hope we can get into our own place soon and then we can do some more of the shopping!!

Have a good, creative week!!

This Week -Watercolor and Dremel tooling for Christmas

Sorry that it is so late in the week that I am getting to this. I was trying to actually finish something!! That didn’t happen! It seems like it has been a busy week but I can’t figure with what! So I will just show you some of the practice stuff I have done.

I want to play with watercolors some more so I did these flowers. They aren’t done as I want them yet, they need some highlights and I am still trying to figure that out.0930161019c1

I really want to do this thing with Christmas ornaments and a Dremel tool. I figured out I need to draw on the shapes I want first and then use the Dremel. I’m not good enough to freehand it. And then it is going to take some more practice!! But here is a peek at the attempt!!09301610201
