We went to look for some lights after Christmas and found these cool let it snow signs at half off! I loved the blue color!
I remembered I had tied a bow when I first got my bow maker that was this really cool blue. Cool goes with cool!
As we went to other places and found more holiday things on sale we found these clear snowflakes. I thought they would be the perfect size for my new sign. Unfortunately I could only find enough for one sign and I had 2. So we are still looking for something to go on the other sign.
I love how this one turned out so much that I hung it on my front door!

This year for our neighbor gifts we decided to do the nativity on a glass block. We found one we liked on the internet and downloaded it. Love that this one has a dog and a cat!
Deciding what size of block to use was the first decision. I guess I really like the rectangle block a little better than the square this year! Then what and how much filling to put in it. We played with the different colors and types of filling and decided we liked the silver or gold balls. We knew we wanted lights. Finding them with white cords was a challenge so we just went with the green cord. We played with how much filling went in and decided that we liked it with a little less than full. 
Next we cut the scene our of matte, black vinyl. I like the matte a little better than the shiny, it seems a little easier to work with. We made sure we liked how it looked on the block. 
Then we started to assemble. Steve has a pair of needle nose pliers that are about 12″ long and they helped a lot to get the lights right where we wanted them. We know they will move some, but we positioned a few then added some filling, then lights, then more filling until we had them as full as we wanted.
We ended up gluing the battery pack to the back of the block and that seemed to work well.

A few weeks ago I posted how to make these balls into ornaments. My friend (Dee) told me how cute she thought they were and how fun she thought they would look on her hook. I hadn’t figured out what to do for her for Christmas yet. So I decided that’s what I would do for her! So here they are with a little more decoration than the earlier post! I use glitter glue and strings of gems to do the decorating!! And then we delivered them and hung them on her hook! She seemed to like them!!!

I’ve got just one more Halloween project to show you then we will move onto something else!
I actually did this project to clean up a part of my house. We had a gap between our house and our foundation that needed sealed. Steve had this idea to use drywall tape mesh to help hold the spray foam in. So he asked me to cut him some lengths. I did too many and so we had some lengths left. So they have been sitting here waiting to have something done with them.
I bought a couple of pans from the dollar store and got my glue gun out! I know you have all seen these a million times!
First you have to paint them.
So here are my drywall tape mummies!!!
We put the picture of the one (below) I did a few years back in also so you could see the difference in the materials. I did that one with gauze.
So these are $12.00 each

As you know making things from hangers is nothing new these days. But I haven’t really had a chance to put my spin on things, so we decided to try some of the ideas out this year!
We have taken pictures all through the process of putting it together, and I don’t know that a lot of explanation is necessary.
This makes a pretty large star, the pvc pipe is 4′ . I wanted it not to rest right on the ground. I really like the idea of lighting it up. Laying those lights out and knowing how big of a string is the critical thing there. We used a 100 light set and it did a little more than we needed but I like it!
So these are $16.00 and the rebar is not included.

A friend of mine wanted to make these stationary portfolios for some friends of hers. She saw a you tube video but then thought the measuring and math was too complicated. I said I would see what I could do to simplify it for her and come up with a design that would work for her.
The first thing I noticed in the design was that the folds were just paper and I think that will wear out easily. So I tried with a single sheet of chipboard that I had. I scored where I wanted it to fold and turned out ok but not large enough to hold the things she wanted in it.
So I went back to the folds being just paper and cutting the chipboard for the pieces in between the folds. I still had a little trouble with the paper not folding correctly as the portfolio opens and closes. Gently scoring that line helps.
The other issue that you need to figure out before making one is how big the spine needs to be. The spines need to be a little bigger than the clearance you need to have for the pockets and writing pad stack on each other when it closes.
I didn’t put anything in it to hold it closed. So I had to figure that out after. I will put something in it next time as I’m making it, like magnets or ribbon.
I made “pockets” the same way I make boxes and that seemed to work out well. Next time I might add a piece of chipboard on the sides to help them stay a little less “squishy”!
The adhesives for something like this can be pricy, so I suggest trying to find them on sale. Some places like the pockets and the pad need a very strong adhesive to stay in place with the wear and tear of use.
The decoration was hard for me this time because I used paper that I’ve had for over ten years and I didn’t have things to match it. But I like the way it turned out!
I also have had the ribbon and that clasp for over ten years and I think it worked perfect! Thanks Janah for sewing the ribbon together for me!!!!
I’m now in the process of designing one that can hold a coloring book and crayons for another friend! I’ll be sure to post those when I get them done!
