Gnomes for all seasons

Over a year ago, we started with an idea. We wanted to create some decoration that could be up all year long. So now that we have made up a few, we wanted to show you. Gnomes with interchangeable hats. Gnomes are $35 plus tax and shipping. Additional hats are $12.50 plus tax and shipping. Hats are a limited supply. It really depends on what material we can find and how much material we buy at the time.

This handcrafted, wall hanging gnome with interchangeable hats will add whimsy to any home! It is made on a sturdy metal frame so it hangs well.  It can be used throughout the year for the holidays, events, or seasons! It measures approximately 12”x 23”.

The hats are interchangeable. Use a different hat for each holiday or Season.

Winter

The beards can be this gray/white, white coarse, or white fine. You can purchase additional hats.

A Birthday Gift

A very dear friend and second mom has a birthday this week! I love that it is so close to Halloween and we always make her a Halloween themed card! The problem always comes to what gift to send.  She sends cards to all of us for EVERY holiday! She is in her later life and recently has had some health concerns that are giving her a little less energy to do things. Luckily when I spoke with her a couple of weeks back she told me she would love if I would send her some cards to put together. She even told me what kind she wanted!!!   I was so relieved! She wanted the one we call a 5 step card. We cut the bases and a coordinating paper and she can use it for any occasion she wants!

Here’s her card!

She called me this afternoon and said she got a package and was jumping up and down, even though she can’t anymore! I’m so glad she liked it and I really get excited when I get feedback!

Thanks for listening to my ramblings!

UpCycle

Have you had a week where you just can’t seem to get your table cleared off enough to do anything?  Well that has been this week for us!!  So as we were trying to come up with something for the blog we finished off a bottle of laundry soap.  As you probably know I am big on upcycling so I told Steve to save it. He is so sick of me saving every jar and container and toilet paper roll!!! lol lol lol

So with just about 30 minutes to do something I decided to get this one ready to move to the for sale section! I think I will put something else on it when I get some other jars ready to go with it , so that the set will have a common decoration.  I just went into my designs and picked one I liked, sized it, cut it and applied it!

We will post again when we have the whole set done.

Last Halloween Project

I’ve got just one more Halloween project to show you then we will move onto something else!

I actually did this project to clean up a part of my house.  We had a gap between our house and our foundation that needed sealed. Steve had this idea to use drywall tape mesh to help hold the spray foam in. So he asked me to cut him some lengths. I did too many and so we had some lengths left. So they have been sitting here waiting to have something done with them.

I bought a couple of pans from the dollar store and got my glue gun out! I know you have all seen these a million times!

First you have to paint them.

So here are my drywall  tape mummies!!!

We put the picture of the one (below) I did a few years back in also  so you could see the difference in the materials. I did that one with gauze.

So these are $12.00 each

Halloween Cat

So I really like to paint ceramics and dry brushing is my favorite technique.  Sometimes it is hard to find things that have the detail to paint.  I saw this cat in the store and it was 50% off!  Well you know I love a deal!  Only one problem, it is plaster and not ceramic.  Plaster paints totally different and doesn’t really hold up to the dry brush technique.  I thought this had enough rough edges that it would.

It did not hold up well. The plaster flakes off as the dry brush applies the paint! Well I had to make it work because I was determined to get it to!!! lol lol lol  I used  black for the base on it all and it took one more coat than it should have.  Then I used gray and blue on the stones and that went without too much problem.  Then I used purple and gray on the cat.  This was where it really started to have problems. Just the pressure of the dry brushing made the black come off in a lot of places. I just kept going and came back in with more gray or purple trying to cover the white spots.

So it took a lot longer to do and more days of it sitting and then looking for fresh white spots but eventually this was the result!  I like it now that it is done but will try to find ceramic in the future!!
